Our Story
Gumboots Consulting Engineers was founded on a simple idea: Northland deserves engineering expertise that actually knows Northland.
Too often, Far North property owners and builders were getting geotechnical reports and engineering advice from firms based in Auckland who had limited knowledge of local soils, local councils, and the real-world engineering challenges of building in this part of New Zealand. The result was generic reports, slow turnarounds, and advice that didn't account for the specific conditions of the Far North.
We started in Kerikeri because that's where we're from. We know the volcanic clay soils of the Bay of Islands, the alluvial flats of the Kaipara, the coastal sands of Doubtless Bay, and the engineering requirements of FNDC, WDC, and KDC from years of working with these councils on projects across the region.
We've since expanded our practice to include the Coromandel Peninsula — another region underserved by local engineering expertise — where we provide the same locally-informed approach to properties in Whangamata, Thames, Hahei, and across the peninsula.
